Well, 2015 is just about done and dusted. It’s ending on a high note for me. I will shortly be flying off to Australia and if all goes smoothly I will catch the fireworks over Sydney harbour for the eve of new year. I have a couple of weeks in Sydney, a week in Melbourne and then a week in Hong Kong. I thought that before I jet off I should share the highlights of Relax With Dax from 2015.
Situated on Hout Street next door to Savoy Cabbage is a new little wine bar and bistro, Bouchon. It’s a collaboration between Dorrance Wines and the owners of La Boheme & Engruna restaurants in Sea Point. It’s been open for 2 weeks and I had a chance to pop in and try it out last night. It’s only open Monday to Friday from 4pm until late.
Woolworths’ latest sustainability initiative is Earthcred, an attempt to motivate people to make the correct buying decisions by ‘gamifying’ it. We’re giving away a R1,500 Woolies voucher and you can stand a chance to win it by signing up and playing Earthcred.
Samsonite is offering a very generous prize for readers of Relax With Dax. The prize is 2 suitcases from the new Neopulse range, the 75cm suitcase (value R4,795) plus the 55cm carry on suitcase (value R3,995). That’s a total prize value of nearly R10,000! Read my post to see how you can put yourself in line to win this amazing prize.
I was recently in London for 10 days. The week was mostly business but I had the weekend to enjoy the city. I thought I would share the things I learnt and some tips that might help you next time you visit.
Choosing a place to eat in Stellenbosch can be challenging, considering the overwhelming number of amazing options. Choosing a restaurant is often about choosing one that is right for the occasion. I’ve been fortunate to eat at many Stellenbosch restaurants and thought I would share with you some places and what they are good for.
Follow through and follow up. Those two very important concepts form the theme of this report on my most recent visit to Chapel Street Primary School in District 6 for the Harvest Table lunch....
The top 10 restaurants in South Africa were announced at the Eat Out Mercedez-Benz Restaurant Awards on Sunday. As usual, most of the restaurants (8) are located in the Western Cape.
I like to attend these events even though I could probably just publish the results from the press release that gets sent to me. The reason I like to attend them is that we get to taste the winning wines. It’s not often you find yourself in a room with 10 of the best chardonnays in South Africa. It’s a rare opportunity to compare them and find a favourite. Which is exactly what I did.
I suggest to you that doing what you love or finding your passion is a luxury afforded to very few and that for the rest of us there is more relevant and helpful advice to be had.
