Madame Zingara Theatre of Dreams ticket giveaway

The Madame Zingara Theatre of Dreams is back! You can never believe all the rumours you hear, but I think most of us were not expecting to see her again. I, for one, am very pleased to see her return. I always believed the Tent of Dreams was an exciting addition to Cape Town. I recommended to every visitor that they go and check it out (read my review here). Now the recommendation is even stronger because it is bigger and better with the addition of the ‘shanty town‘ outside the tent where you can experience (in a fun, token way) what it’s like to visit a township and have a drink at a shebeen.

I went to the media launch the other night and the operation is as slick as ever. How they feed 500 people at the same time and manage to keep the food hot is something I can’t work out. But that’s what they do. The famous chilli chocolate steak is back, although I had the lamb shank which was pretty good. The wine list offers a great selection of wines at pretty reasonable prices.

The show has some amazing acts (and a few not so amazing acts too). The acts kept me interested the whole show, and the show ended with a really breathtaking act. I’m not going to tell you about them, you need to see them for yourself and that is exactly what I’m going to help you with right now.

I have 2 double tickets for Madame Zingara Theatre of Dreams to give away. If you would like to win a pair of tickets, send an email to dax@relaxwithdax.co.za with the subject ‘Zingara giveaway’. In the email please tell me until which month the Tent of Dreams is in Cape Town. You can find this information on their website:

http://www.madamezingara.com

The competition closes on Sunday (20th) and I will announce the winners on Monday the 21st.

The tickets come with some conditions:

Valid until 15th July
Valid for Monday to Thursday nights (ie not valid on Fri, Sat, Sun nights)

Ok, that’s it. Send your entry in!

Ps. I hear a rumour about Christmas in July at Zingara. Capetonians will know what that means.

    Hi Dax

What do you think of Madam Z, compared to Vaudeville?

I’ve been priviledged enough to have experienced Madam Z, last time they were in Century City as well as this time around. I must be honest, I enjoyed last time more.

Be warned, the seats closest to the stage is dangerous for anyone that suffers from sinus. They have a smoke machine that blows smoke during every act – so bad that you can’t breath. Our whole table ended up with sinus infections…

Food is great though and i loved the Shanti town and I must admit their drinks prices are really reasonable.

Jo, I agree with you, they are a bit heavy handed with the smoke machine. I also agree that the whole experience is not what it used to be but I still think it’s a worthwhile experience, especially if you haven’t been before.

As for Madame Zingara vs Vaudeville, I would say that Madame Zingara is the better experience, but Vaudeville is not bad.

    Hi Dax

We had a fantastic time at Madame Zingaras!! The food and the entertainment was great and the whole vibe amazing. Having been to Vaudeville as well, I think Madame Zingaras was much better!
